Digital Goa, July 25 – The Assembly witnessed high drama during the discussion on a resolution moved by RGP MLA Viresh Borkar to define ‘Person of Goan Origin’. Viresh was removed from the House by marshals after he entered the well protesting the government’s refusal to form a committee of stakeholders to define Goan origin for safeguarding the interests of native Goans. Viresh had stated in the resolution that ‘a proper policy can be framed to benefit Goan people and prevent demographic change in the Goan landscape’. CM Pramod Sawant initially objected to the resolution, stating that a law already exists for the purpose. However, the entire opposition supported Viresh’s demand and entered the well, forcing the Speaker to allow him to speak on his private member resolution.
