Digital Goa, 6 July – Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho held a meeting with members of the North and South Goa Taxi Union and the United Taximen Association to discuss the rollout of new app aggregator guidelines. The minister claimed that the meeting was ‘constructive’. Emphasizing the benefits of technology, Godinho assured taxi operators that digital platforms would help them reach more customers and improve efficiency, without threatening their livelihood. He stressed that the transition will be carried out through dialogue, not compulsion, ensuring both Goans and tourists benefit from better taxi services. Concerns over taxi meters were also addressed, said Mauvin, adding that mobile apps with fixed, government-notified fares will eventually replace physical meters. The government will continue consultations with other taxi associations to finalise the way forward for Goa’s transport sector, he added.
