Digital Goa, July 21 – Goa Cabinet today approved a new scheme granting Temporary Status to daily wage workers who have completed over 7 years of service in government departments and bodies. Around 3,000 workers including around 800 Safai workers will benefit from the scheme. From August 1, 2025, eligible workers will receive higher pay—₹20,000 for support staff and ₹25,000 for clerical/technical staff—along with a 3% annual increment, leave benefits, and EPF. Those eligible since 2020 will get notional increments, taking their pay to ₹23,185. Enrolment in central pension and insurance schemes will be mandatory.
Future daily wage hiring outside GHRDC will be disallowed, asserted CM Pramod Sawant while announcing the cabinet decision. “Henceforth, there will be a ban on appointing daily wage workers,” he added.The scheme will cost the state Rs 4 crore annually, he added.
