Digital Goa, July 14 – The Enforcement Directorate(ED) has announced establishment of new special court in Goa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to expedite money laundering trials. Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, North Goa has been notified as the special court, states a notification issued by the Union Ministry Of Finance (Department of Revenue). The agency stated that additional courts have been notified in multiple states including Goa where existing judicial forums were inadequate, causing trial delays. β€œIn Goa, an exclusive Special Court for North Goa has been notified; previously, there was only one Special Court for the entire state. With the addition of these Special Courts, the Directorate will be able to significantly accelerate trial proceedings in PMLA cases. This initiative is also expected to address the concerns of the Constitutional Courts regarding delays in money laundering trials,” stated ED.
