Digital Goa, July 1- High Court has issued notice to the state government and the Ministry of Environment & Forests on a PIL challenging the permissions, approvals and work orders issued for the construction of a Rs 8 crore tourist resort on the Surla Plateau, within the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary. The PIL alleges that the project site falls within the core area of a proposed tiger reserve and is being executed by a mining firm. Despite no stay on a 2023 High Court order directing the area’s notification as a tiger reserve, state agencies have gone ahead with approvals, violating wildlife and forest laws, alleges the petition.
