Digital Goa, 12, July – Social activists and civil society members held a protest today at Azad Maidan in Panaji under the banner of Citizens of Goa against what they described as an alleged undeclared emergency imposed by the ruling party. They also objected to the chapter on the Emergency included in the primary school curriculum, claiming it was intended to portray a particular political party in a negative light ahead of the elections. Speakers at the protest alleged that there was an attempt by those in power in Delhi and Goa to suppress the democratic rights of the people. South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes and Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai also addressed the gathering.
